The Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice of Ondo State, Dr. Olukayode Ajulo, SAN, OON, has been conferred with the Distinguished Public Service Award for Institutional Impact and Service Delivery by the Presidency’s Bureau of Public Service Reforms (BPSR), in recognition of his contributions to public service reform and justice sector development.
The Distinguished Public Service Award for Institutional Impact and Service Delivery is an honour reserved for outstanding public servants and institutional leaders who have demonstrated exceptional commitment to governance reform, efficiency, and improved service delivery. It recognises individuals and organisations that have contributed significantly to strengthening public institutions, enhancing accountability, and driving innovative solutions that improve the effectiveness of the public service in Nigeria.
The honour is being conferred as part of activities marking United Nations Public Service Day, a globally recognised platform dedicated to celebrating excellence, innovation, and transformative contributions within the public service.
According to a communication from the Bureau of Public Service Reforms (BPSR), Dr. Ajulo’s selection followed a rigorous merit-based process involving stakeholder nominations and an independent evaluation of performance benchmarks.
The award presentation is slated for June 23, 2026, at the Nicon Luxury Hotel, Abuja, where distinguished public servants and institutional reform champions across the country will be celebrated.
Since assuming office as Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Dr. Ajulo has been associated with reforms focused on widening access to justice, strengthening institutional frameworks, enhancing efficiency, and deepening the culture of the rule of law in Ondo State.
Reacting to the honour, the Attorney-General dedicated the award to Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, describing him as a visionary leader whose unwavering commitment to good governance has created the enabling environment for innovation, institutional reforms, and excellence in public service delivery in the State.
"I dedicate this award to His Excellency, Dr. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, for providing the platform that has enabled us to excel and for demonstrating exceptional leadership in ensuring that the reforms we have initiated within the justice sector and across government institutions receive the necessary support to succeed.
"Mr Governor is a reform-minded leader who understands that strong institutions are the foundation of sustainable development. His commitment to the rule of law, transparency, efficiency, and service delivery has inspired us to continually raise the bar in public service." He said.
Dr. Ajulo also expressed profound appreciation to the civil servants of Ondo State for their dedication, professionalism, and support in driving the administration's reform agenda.
"I equally dedicate this recognition to the hardworking civil servants of Ondo State, whom I consider among the finest civil servants in Nigeria. From the day I assumed office, they welcomed me warmly, shared their wealth of experience, and worked tirelessly with me to ensure that the various reforms and innovations we have introduced translate into tangible benefits for the people of our dear State.
"This award is therefore not a personal achievement. It is a testament to what can be accomplished when visionary political leadership is combined with a committed and professional civil service. Together, we have demonstrated that excellence in governance is achievable when service to the people remains our guiding principle." The AG added.
Previous recipients of the BPSR Distinguished Award include several notable public sector leaders and administrators who have contributed to governance and service delivery in Nigeria, among them Dr. Dasuki Ibrahim Arabi (DG, BPRS), Prof. Charles Anosike (DG/CEO, NiMet), Dr. Bashir Jamoh, OFR (DG, NIMASA), Prof. Aliyu Usman El-Nafaty (VC, Gombe State University), and Dr. Grace Adagba (Chairman, Benue SUBEB).
